SPC’s Two Synthetic Resin Scientific and Technological Achievements Awarded

Recently, SPC’s two synthetic resin scientific and technological achievements won the 2022 China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (hereinafter referred as CPCIF) Science and Technology Progress Awards.

The new high-performance polyethylene pipe resin production technology jointly developed by the Synthetic Resin Department of SPC, Zhejiang University, and Sinopec Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology Co. Ltd won the first prize of the 2022 CPCIF Science and Technology Progress Award. The No. 4 polyethylene plant of the synthetic resin department is the only polyethylene plant that adopts the Borstar technique in China. Through the application of this new technology, the engineering application of independently developed catalysts and the production of high-grade pipe materials have been successfully realized. The various high-performance pipe materials produced can be widely used in water pipes, gas pipes, nuclear power water pipes, and large-diameter pipes, and other fields.

The key technology development and industrialization project of green high-performance autoclave foaming polypropylene jointly developed by the Synthetic Resin Department of SPC and Sinopec Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry won the second prize of the 2022 CPCIF Science and Technology Progress Award. The Synthetic Resin Department started to develop special foaming polypropylene materials in 2012. After years of research and development and technology accumulation, it has formed a series of products. In 2022, the total output exceeded 31,000 tons, and the domestic market share reached more than 30%.
