SINOPEC Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited is a holding subsidiary of SINOPEC, located in Jinshan District, Shanghai, covering an area of 9.4 square kilometers. Shanghai Petrochemical is one of the major integrated refining and chemical enterprises in China, and also the first company listed in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and New York. Shanghai Petrochemical, formerly known as Shanghai Petrochemical Corporation, was established in 1972 and restructured into Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. in June 1993. As of the end of 2024, the total share capital of Shanghai Petrochemical is 10.675 billion shares.

The Company currently has a comprehensive processing capacity of 16 million tons/year for crude oil, as well as a production capacity of 700000 tons/year for ethylene, 4.07 million tons/year for organic chemical raw materials, 908000 tons/year for synthetic resins, 525000 tons/year for synthetic fiber raw materials, and 35500 tons/year for synthetic fibers. It is an important production base for refining and chemical products in China.
